Hi, I’m Jamy. Pronounced Jamie. Pronouns they/she/siya [shah].

Having one on one time with someone to work through your anxieties, increase your mindfulness, and uncover your potential is what I’m here for. My goal is to be all about y’all.

I utilize several approaches such as strengths-based, cognitive behavioral, trauma-focused, person-focused, feminist, and multicultural therapy. During our consultation call, feel free to let me know if there are practices, rituals, or items you engage with that support your healing and talking processes. I affirm members of all communities, such as: LGBTQ+ folx, formerly incarcerated folx, sex workers, kink-positive folx, consensual non-monogamous folx, gender non-binary and non-conforming folx, and transgender folx.

Whether this is your first time trying out therapy, returning to therapy, or seeking couples therapy with your person, I look forward to walking together with you and progressing through your wellness journey.

Professional Experience

Individuals, Couples & Families

My work in private practice has led me specialize in life transitions, such as: moving from college to adulting, revisiting past grief and pain, entering new relationships, and embracing new identities.

My experience has included working with queer and straight couples; monogamous, open, and polyamorous relationships; trans-cis couples, spouses and partners. I welcome couples seeking to try new things, to heal from past harms, and to prepare for their next big step together.

Nonprofit Startups

Since achieving my MSW from Columbia University with a focus on Social Enterprise & Administration, I have applied my clinical lens to how I craft healing-focused, person-centered experiences for the community we serve.

My portfolio includes developing an after-school program for Bronx youth on probation, revitalizing the New York office of a national leadership program for systems-involved girls and non-binary youth of color, and operational development for a collective of formerly incarcerated women of color.

LGBTQ+ Issues

As a queer nonbinary person of color and licensed therapist, I bring knowledge from my continuing education courses and lived experience in service to fellow LGBTQ+ folx. For more affordable alternatives to individual therapy, I regularly offer groups and workshops that focus on LGBTQ+ wellness.

Clients who seek gender affirmation surgery recommendations must be active, consistent clients for at least 8 sessions.

Community Offerings

I offer sliding scale workshops for companies, nonprofits, grassroots organizations, and student organizations.

Past partnerships include:

APICHA’s Project Connect: monthly series on mental health and wellness focused on the LGBTQ+ POC community

CORE : Facilitating community workshops on restorative justice and community organizing

Templeton Academy: Co-leading a virtual skill sharing workshop on family health practices during the pandemic

Pi Alpha Phi Fraternity, Inc: Developed a Teachable module on sexual assault and allyship best practices for new member orientation
